Record Power SC3 Geared Scroll Chuck Package, 1" x 8 TPI

Introducing the New Range of Woodturning Chucks and Jaws The SC3 Geared Scroll Chuck and SC4 Professional Geared Scroll Chuck are direct replacements to our previous G3 and Supernova2 models, with some notable improvements.

  • Integral to the performance of a chuck are its jaw slides. On both new chucks these have been made noticeably larger than others on the market, increasing their torque and load bearing abilities. 
  • Manufactured using the powder metallurgy process, they are made from high tensile steel, impregnated with nickel copper to ensure superior strength and longevity. 
  • The range is manufactured using precision CNC equipment to our exacting standards. 
  • The jaw slides are controlled using a precision engineered geared scroll which moves in the conventional screw direction - clockwise to close the jaws and anti-clockwise to open them. Many other chucks work in the opposite direction and are therefore not as intuitive to use as the SC3 and SC4. 
  • The Super Geared True-Lock ™ technology used to manufacture the gears ensures excellent strength and unsurpassed surface and dimensional accuracies to give smooth, vibration free operation.

  • Heavy Duty Jaw Slides
    The improved and enlarged jaw slides give unsurpassed holding power and load bearing ability. They are made from high tensile steel, reinforced with nickel and copper and heat-treated to ensure superior strength.
     
  • Single Handed Operation
    The SC3 and SC4 are operated single-handedly using a key, leaving a hand free to mount the work. The SC4 key features a ball hex wrench design for multi-directional operation and ease of access.
     
  • High Tensile Strength
    The chuck bodies are made from 1045 high tensile steel for superior strength and performance.
     
  • Jaw Fixing System
    The SC3 and SC4 feature a jaw fixing which will not only fit the Record Power series of Jaws but is also fully compatible with Nova and Robert Sorby brand jaws.
     
  • Woodworm Screw
    The SC3 and SC4 are supplied with the indispensable Record Power woodworm screw. Ideal for mounting bowl blanks, this screw is held in the jaws of the chuck, giving exceptional holding power. This means a separate woods crew chuck need not be used and the chuck can stay on the lathe, saving time and effort.
     
  • Sealed Backing Plate with Full Indexing
    The SC4 features a strong backing plate to protect the gear mechanism from dust. It also features 72-point indexing around the full circumference.
 
The SC3 chuck is lighter and more compact than the SC4, making it ideal for use on any lathe, particularly small to medium sized machines, and is still compatible with the full jaw range. The compact design reduces load on the lathe spindles and bearing sand gives good access to smaller work pieces. The large jaw slides offer unrivalled strength and holding power that cannot be found in other chucks of this size.
